Halloween 7 day sheet mask challenge

So this post is 2 months overdue - I'm sorry guys but I work full-time and I have a baby to look after so this will happen a loooooooot. Back in August Soko Glam issued a one week sheet mask challenge; participants used sheet masks for seven consecutive days and posted selfies with the hashtag: #soko7daychallenge, tagging three friends in the process blah blah blah. Truth be told I do have an instagram account but I don't believe I have at least three followers interested in skincare or sheet masks, so I didn't see the point. That didn't stop me however, from taking up the challenge and deciding to use seven whitening sheet masks in order to get my skin as light as possible for Halloween, especially since I find the use of cheap white face powder quite repugnant - of course I went for the time honoured vampire, a lot of my wardrobe screams 'I eat people' so I figured it saved me from buying a costume.

The pic above is slightly inaccurate, I actually went for an eight day challenge which included a pumpkin sheet mask on the first day and I replaced one of the Lovemore sheet masks with another from My Beauty Diary.

1) Mediheal: Pumkin Ade

Yeah, it was Halloween so of course I was going to use a pumpkin mask at some point. I think it's important to note that this was the only cotton mask I used for the challenge, the others were made from silk and gel, which explains how it didn't perfectly mould to the contours of my face. The essence was a little sticky if I remember correctly, and seeing as though it was just before bed I felt the need to do a superficial cleanse instead of sleep with it on (pillow fluff all over face = tres unattractive). It hydrated my skin for a brief spell I suppose but overall I wasn't blown away.

2-4) Lovemore: Wine Yeast

I used these for three days in a row for my first bit if whitening and brightening. This is a Taiwanese brand and like most of their sheet masks, they're made of silk which feels amazing and light. I felt like my skin could breathe throughout the duration of the treatment, which I don't always experience. I read somewhere that the wine yeast properties were similar to that of SKII's main active principle 'pitera' however this comparison may have been slightly overstated. My skin did become a lot brighter and I noticed my freckles becoming less prominent as the days wore on. My face also felt a lot softer, which was lovely.

5) My Beauty Diary: Coix  Seed

This mask was absolutely brilliant. I really noticed my skin becoming a whole lot brighter, and the mild rosacea I tend to develop in cold weather was calmed dramatically. This is another Taiwanese silk mask so again this fit so much better which meant more of the serum soaked into my skin easily.

6) My Beauty Diary: Bird's Nest

I was so impressed with one of their whitening masks so I decided to fast order an 'ultra whitening' one to get well and truly whiter than white. I was initially concerned that a bird's nest mask would contain extract from droppings (ick) but it's ok, turns out it's collected from swiftlet nest, which is made of their saliva. So only slightly less gross. Yup. My beauty diary I've found are the 'slimiest' when it comes to serum soakage so do be careful you don't lose your grip as you're removing it from the packaging.

7) Donkey Milk: Whitening

And we return to Korea for the penultimate mask - Oh yes! Not only does a gel mask fit so much better on the face this particular brand I've read extremely positive things about, and I readily join the ranks of happy customers. Absolutely fantastic, the gel deposited the essence much quicker than expected, and no sticky unpleasantness on the skin post use. Skin was fuller, softer and so much lighter. Worked like an absolute dream, and I rarely write such good reviews. Slightly heftier in terms of price but it's worth every penny.

In the evening I began applying some of my free samples to boost the whitening properties overnight. I'm quite happy with the non-sticky fast absorbing Cosrx essence, but alas I can't really isolate the difference it made from the other products with just a couple of samples. Same with the Tony Moly Panda's dream hand cream, which was a little too thick for my liking, and the 'whitening' didn't really take since I wash my hands frequently.

8) Mediheal Dress Code: Black - Halloween is here!!!

The prettiest sheet mask I have used to date. I am a huge fan of these beautifully crafted masquerade design sheet masks. This is the first and only mask I've ever used to be additionally adorned with little ruby coloured diamantes. So cute! And I loathe that word, 'cute.' But this particular situation calls for acceptance, and for all intensive purposes falls under my definition of 'cuteness.' I can still be quite private when I'm in the middle of a treatment, wanting everyone to see the result as oppose to being exposed to the occasionally unsightly process. This is my exception to the rule, so I don't mind having a chat and lounging about the house watching telly whilst wearing these. I feel like it worked very well in giving me a last minute whitening boost for the fun and frolics of the evening.

Later that day...

The end result was incredible - beautiful naturally clear, porcelain complexion with only the slightest amount of BB cream for my makeup base. Immortal visage achieved ;)
