The weird ones
Before I get on to my super duper favourites I want to talk about how much of a sucker I am when it comes to unique packaging and fun ingredients. I love dragon's blood, I love devil's tongue, anything that looks or sounds like it could be found in the mage's guild (elder scrolls reference, sorry) appeals in a big way. So when I came across masks that contain essence of placenta and snail, it would have been criminal not to try these out.
It turns out that both snail mucin and syn-ake (synthetic snake venom) are used in a lot of Korean beauty products. Snail extract is commonly used in creams and lip balms for intense moisture, and snake essence/venom is a popular anti-aging ingredient and can be found in a lot of western products on the market today. Hydrolyzed placenta is used for firming/tightening of the skin and is apparently derived from farm critters such as pigs and cows. I'm assuming that the stem cell essence is taken from plant protein however it doesn't actually say - this is supposedly meant to have similar vit C properties such as rejuvenation and brightening.
I'm not overly impressed with the quality of the malie ones compared to other brands I've tried; I didn't notice a whole lot of change and they left my skin feeling a little tacky, even after I tried patting in the left over essence. Overall bleh.
I have high hopes for the Etude House snail mask, I've since used two collagen masks from this brand and I l-o-v-e-d them. My complexion looked and felt brighter, firmer and smoother.
I'm incorporating a lot of anti-aging into my routine of late; I think I'm just paranoid that becoming a mother is going to automatically make me look like I'm in my thirties! I get a little relief when various professionals say things like: 'Oh sorry I thought you might have still been in school!' But the neurosis comes hurtling back when I don't get ID'd for a bottle of Kopparberg (the non-alcoholic ones still get flagged up for some reason).
I use one sheet at least once a week to give my skin a pick-me-up before I settle down to non-sleep ;P
<3 SHEET MASKS! <3
