My skin is a bugger when it comes to absorbing UV rays. I can spend a minimum of ten minutes in the sun without sunblock, any flesh exposed will be a completely different colour to what it was before I left the house/office. I'm not particularly an anti tan person, I find it incredibly asinine and immature to deem tanned skin as a 'chavvy' attribute (I find such classist slurs quite repugnant). I will still don the latex dresses and corsets on a night out atop slightly darker skin; it tends to make me look a little more natural and exotic as oppose to Morticia Addams looking, which as you can imagine is both a welcome and refreshing change! One of my biggest beauty bugbears is freckling - not only do they make me look twelve years old (being a little over 5ft tall), but they're also incredibly difficult to cover up with concealer and/or foundation.
So, in a bid to dramatically reduce any uneven discolouration, I use quite a few different sunblock products. Here are a couple of my staples:
The Neutrogena Age Shield Face Spf 110 suncream. Yup - Spf 110. I use this on face, neck and décolleté every day all year round, often instead of moisturiser (since despite it's non greasy feel it also has active hydrating qualities) and underneath a minimum SPF 15 foundation. No sun is breaching that immense mattifying barrier let me tell you! I've used this religiously for over a year and I have literally forgotten what I look like with freckles. Excellenté.
Doesn't quite cut the mustard like the Neutrogena lotion since it's only Spf 30, but it's a fantastic little emendation tool, complete with brush applicator to keep in the handbag. You can choose to apply over a layer of normal sunblock or over the whole shebang (makeup etc) The only problem is that it has a transparent rather than a 'translucent' finish. Sucks to be me.
So I hope this helps all you fair ladies (or indeed creatures of the night) to safeguard your skin from the awful summer weather.
