Glitter polish - the scourge

A friend posted this on their facebook page the other day:

How true.

Thought I'd offer a little trade tip to help ease/quicken the process so you're not sitting there scrubbing your nails for ten minutes.

What you will need:

Acetone
Cotton wool pads (2.5 to be exact)
Tin foil

Cut your pads into quarters, and cut off a few small squares of tin foils (big enough to wrap round your fingertips).

For the purposes of this mini tutorial, I only painted my little finger (Deborah Lippmann - Razzle Dazzle)

Soak the quarter pad in acetone (you can use other polish removers sans acetone but the process may take longer) and wrap round the nail like so:

Take a tin foil square, and wrap/fold around the pad and pinch the corners. This keeps the heat trapped around the nail to optimise the effectiveness of the acetone. You know how when you're bleaching your hair and you wrap the whole lot in in cling film? Same principle.

Once you've done the same to all nails, leave for a max of two mins, and then slowly press down on the foil and begin squeaking the nails. With glitter, there's likely to be a bit of staining that no amount of acetone can remove, so your best bet is to buff the nails to remove the leftover colour fully.

Since acetone is incredibly dehydrating, you'll want to compensate with some hand/nail cream or balm to rehydrate both the nail and the skin around it.

Hope this helps!
