Hair Colour Remover

Before I start, I would just like to remind everyone that I am NOT a professional hairdresser, nor do I have any qualifications whatsoever in hair (other than removal). I cannot be more emphatic on that. I make various extensions out of plastic i.e. synthetic dreads/micro-loop clusters/falls all of which do not require any special skill or certification. These posts are based on nothing more than personal experience and advice from my own stylists, upon which I rely heavily.
I have spent the past ten years colouring and stripping my hair. I'm fickle, what can I say?

I have done the bleach, and as much as I would recommend against it for the irreparable damage it has done to my own lengths, I would still choose it over remover or chemical strip any day.

I've tried them all, Adee Phelan, Colour B4 and Decolour. They all have two things in common - no matter how many of them you use, they are almost completely ineffective on build-up, and they stink. I guarantee that if you use two or more of these treatments, you will be unable to wash the smell out of your hair for weeks.

The problem is people watch vids like this and are easily duped:

Of course the colour will be removed, it's fresh, and it's only one application. Fool.
Plus there's no proof whatsoever that it doesn't damage your hair. In my experience my hair was in much better condition prior to using this stuff. You don't seem to lose elasticity but you're still stripping the cuticle of all the essential proteins it needs to provide a strong protective barrier, against heat damage and free radicals for instance.
My advice to you all: if you want to get rid of colour build up, a date at the salon will be your best recourse.

  1. Hi, did the adee hair colour remover make your hair smell for weeks? Worse when wet?
