Demimonde resurgent!
Oh I have been dizzzz-astrously unavailable for what seems to be yonks, yet having said that looking at the date of my last post it has indeed been yonks... so I do apologise. Needless to say I am finally finding the time to continue with demimonde, and despite the latest trend in 'vlogging' of which I do not myself partake (still avidly contributing to the millions of hits on Lisa Eldridge's vids however) I do hope to retain and gain the interest of all you beauty junkies out there.
Just a very quick post as sort of a kick starter really, on one of my more cherished pastimes: skincare.
The above pic shows a very old and generally very 'bleh' collection of products used in my skincare routine of 2013-2014. The zero oil origins products smell pretty good but dried my face out after prolonged use (the lotion was very light and emulsion like, which made it wearable throughout the day but didn't do much to compensate for the oil strippyness.) The face mask was ineffective on me, I felt no cooling or calming effect whatsoever which was disappointing. The eye roll on (containing caffeine) was nothing special. Didn't do a lot to make my eyes less tired looking in the mornings and has 0 shadow correcting properties. I found the illamasqua primer pretty terrible to be honest, which is a shame because I absolutely love their cosmetics. It leaves your skin feeling slightly greasy, plus I'm not convinced that it served as an effective barrier between my skin and my makeup. I LOVE konjac sponges as they're suitable for light daily exfoliation and you can use them to massage your face prior to treatment (they're biodegradable so only last a month or two) and lets face it, the future is Japanese.
For a long time I've been labouring under the misapprehension that the westernised approach to skincare i.e. the old 'cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturise, treat weekly' is the way to go - it isn't, simply put. In the posts to come I will be outlining in detail the deus ex machina of my visage routine. ;)
