A New Base

So a couple of weeks before Christmas my smashbox foundation primer finally ran out. And my dainty doll foundation/powder/concealer - all on the same day. That was fun. My fault really - I've been a bit lax with all my base products recently. Glad I got a chance to experiment with a couple of different brands though.

Bare Minerals Primer - Prime Time

This primer is a translucent gel that glides easier across the skin and leaves your face feeling very silky smooth, as oppose to Smashbox's lightweight creamy formula with mattifying properties that struggles to fill out every nook and cranny. Only drawback however, is how it feels when you're applying it - it feels like you've just dipped your fingers in grease and smothering it across your face! It feels so oily that I'm half expecting spots to just spring up out of nowhere and erupt in a frenzy of slimy rage. But then you leave it for 60 seconds and your skin feels satiny smooth and just, well perfect. This is now my chosen primer for the foreseeable future.

No7 Instant Radiance Foundation - Calico and No7 Translucent Perfect Light Loose Powder

I never thought I could be happier with No7 foundation, but after having this skin match service done I finally found the perfect shade for me that blends into my natural complexion almost 100% while suiting my ever so slightly dull combination skin type down to the ground. I would definitely recommend everyone to get this service, you won't regret it. Lisa says so!
I love translucent loose powder since it's the only stuff light enough to actually match my skin tone, but I do also like the soft none cakey texture (that you can't really get with most compacts) that sets your foundation and feels incredibly light at the same time.

Lancome Poudre Majeure Excellence - 01 Translucide

A really nice fine compact powder that makes your skin look luminous. I opt to use this on those slacker days where I'm only wearing concealer/highlighter and not that bothered with the way I look, as it just gives my skin a bit of a healthy looking boost without looking overly made up. It has a very subtle rose tint to it which is accentuated underneath a very light dusting of the palest blusher. This was another Christmas present from my Mom. Nearly five years out the nest and she still gets me.
