PRETTY: The Nylon Book of Beauty

Of Nylon Magazine - One of the best books for novices of the beauty trade or if you're simply looking for a bit of inspiration. Contains mag-style reviews of the best products, an in depth look at the beauty icons of eras past.
Things A Woman Should Know About Beauty - Karen Homer
I love Karen Homer's books simply because her writing style is quite journalistic as well as instructive. This one in particular has a boat load of helpful hints and tips when it comes to hair, skincare and makeup. They come in very neat hand bag sizes, so very appropriate for ladies that are travel agogo (see what I did there?)
Things A Woman Should Know About Style - Karen Homer
Pretty much loaded with info on swanky fashion (which is why I love it) but there is quite a decent chapter on how to choose your own 'signature scent.'
Bobbi Brown Makeup Manual

I've only recently been using Bobbi Brown's cosmetics (lipsticks and eyeshadows are amazing!) but I've had this book for a good while now. Really is exceptional for those in serious search of a good makeup tutorial. I'm using the word 'good' a lot... it's a good book what can I say? Tonnes of info on products and tools, and it helps to get you to work with your face rather than to try and paint another one over the top of it.
Beauty Therapy - Level 2
I've managed to get my hands on quite a few of these NVQ textbooks that have proven extremely helpful for my own learning, but also for advice and info in general. If you're looking for more of an in depth study manual for all beauty therapies, we're talking waxing, eyebrow tinting, microdermabrasion etc then something like this would better serve. It even has a chapter on ear piercing which is something that I personally would like to get into next
Do take away with you however, that despite owning a lot of books on this subject, you'll only ever truly learn and get good with lots and lots of practice. So read, but read and do, very important.
